Summer is here again and what better way to embrace the changing weather than a cooling dip in a sparkling swimming pool! However, the winter leaves still lie thick at the top of the pool and the water has turned a slimy green colour as the chilly wind blew the brown leaves underneath the pool cover.

To keep a pool pristine all year round, the first thing to note is how a swimming pool is maintained. The do’s and don’ts of a swimming pool owner and what the healthiest option is for the swimming pool, environment and the swimmers.

To dive right into it, a swimming pool comes with a filtration system which allows for the pool water to remain free of algae and bacteria. Consider adding a self priming pool pump that is designed to work with the volume of your pool (the amount of water that pass through the system) to keep the swimming pool sparkling clean. Because the pool pump will run on a daily basis, you will want to find a solution that saves energy and makes use of the latest technology to ensure that your pool filtration systems run optimally at all times. Have a look at the motor of the pool pump to make sure it works for you and your pool. The vast variety of pool pumps can be overwhelming. Each pool pump is designed for different sizes and types of pools so be sure to procure a pool pump of top quality, that is durable, serviceable and appropriate for your pool’s size.

AutoGate Gauteng stock the ground and in-ground model pool pumps. When using the ground pool pump you will need to consider the ground size and area that the pump will be used in. The most popular model bought from AutoGate is the ground model because of the easy maintenance and cost effectiveness of this pool pump solution. The ground model pool pump can be installed in any location and can be easily moved, making the ground pool pump a more convenient option for most pool owners.

If ever in doubt when purchasing a pool pump, you can contact AutoGate Gauteng and one of our experienced consultants will be happy to give you details and offer you an option according to your requirements.

Technology is a grand thing. It saves time, creates convenience and just makes the world go round. From the coffee machine down to the garage light that switches on when the garage door opens. But what is a person to do when the technology fails. Due to the garage door being in use on a daily basis, the garage door opens and closes many times a day. As with everything, when used in excess, parts become worn out and a garage door and garage door parts are no exception.

A common issue with garage doors are the cables that become misaligned or broken on the cable drum. This can be repaired but proper tools are required and the installation of a garage door can be quite difficult. Caution should be practiced when working with the springs in the garage door and it is better to let a professional assist you with garage door springs.

This article addresses the steps to follow when installing a new garage door cable. Be sure to use the correct tools and to always be careful when working on a step ladder.

Gather your two vice grips, three inch wrench, a step ladder, some gloves, safety goggles and the new cable which you can buy from Auto-Gate. If at any time you need a professional hand, you can contact our friendly experienced professionals who will be more than happy to assist you.

Firstly if your cable has detached itself on the one side, you must take care as the spring’s torque has transferred itself to the other side of the torsion spring assembly. This will most commonly cause the garage door to lift skew off the ground and run off its tracks.
Next, apply pressure on the lifted side of the door by stepping to push that part of the door down to a level position. Secure the door with two vice grips to keep the door level.
Remove and replace the damaged cable. It is advisable to not ever reuse the cable as once a cable is damaged it will continue to spool off. Replacement parts are available from Auto-Gate.
Attach the new cable to the bottom bracket, allign the cable behind the door hinge up to the cable drum. Loosen the screws on the drum.
Lift and drop the garage door to ensure that the door is running evenly along the tracks and resting flat on the ground.
You may need to adjust the cables or tweak the setup to ensure optimal operation.

Extending onto existing electrical installations, rewiring, altering or installing electrical layouts in a new building are specialised jobs and should be undertaken by a specialist in the electrical industry. An electrician is trained and issued a special certificate to trade as a wireman. The electrician certificate is regulated by the health and safety department to ensure the safety of electrical installations. Hiring a certified electrician is imperative for the safety of your home or business and everybody contained within them.

People employ the services of an electrician to install, connect, test and uphold the maintenance of electrical systems for security systems, refrigeration, lighting, climate control and communication.

An electrician is also used in the industrial and commercial fields whereby they are used to install and setup the electronic controls for machines used in factories and commercial spaces.

An experienced electrician should be able to assist and advise on all electrical cost cutting and savings and also be able to indicate to the client on what the estimate costs and time frames are relating to the work and provide a written quote when the premises and work required has been assessed.

A certified electrician can be used to provide a certificate of compliance and in some cases can give gas compliancy certificates. These COC’s are treated as warranties and protect you against possible issues with your electrical layouts in the future.

If you are still unsure about who to contact or about hiring an electrician to install your electronic controls, to do your wiring, to install your cabling, to connect your mains or any other electrician related job, contact AutoGate Electrician on 086 111 2928 who have a professional electrician on hand to assist with all of your needs.
